From Jeff Edwards :

Alright folks I have checked out all of your suggestions and there was no way to work a Cherokee design aspect into this one. But I appreciate everyone knowing my typical artwork style and asking where it was.
Apologies for not providing a translation.
The first word is ᏓᏄᎪᎢ this is the word for Vian and in Cherokee it means gar. I don’t know this for a fact but with Sallie Jones Lake and the Arkansas river many a monster Gar have been caught.
The second and third word go together. There is no actual word for Wolverine. It is not native to our past and our current location in Oklahoma. So I worked with translation services on this word. One word it could have been was the Wolverines nickname, skunk bear, ᏗᎵ ᏲᎾ. That is not a great name.
So we went with what we had. ᏓᎭᏏ is the Cherokee word for badger. In the badger world aka Mustelidae you have the weasel, badger of various types, otters, ferrets and the largest, the Wolverine. So the second word is ᎤᏔᎾ which is large in Cherokee.
So when we don’t have a word for something a lot of thought has to go into creating a word. You want it to represent what your trying to convey and you don’t want that to be skunk bear. Adding either the word small or large or the color of the animal followed by the animals name is fairly common when creating words.
So that is the translation process in a nutshell. Some might say large badger does not sound mean, ferocious or fearless. That meaning comes across when you see one, you say ᏓᎭᏏ ᎤᏔᎾ and you run in the opposite direction as fast as you can because even though you didn’t say mean, ferocious or fearless you know what your dealing with and it’s best to get as far away as possible from that skunk bear.
